Because we've got happy and smile and laugh, but I'm talking OMFGZ!!1! cause I've needed one of those.

HOLY FUCK THE BASSIST OF FACE TO FACE JUST DROPPED THE RUMOUR THAT THEY'LL BE TOURING AUSTRALIA IN FEBRUARY! FACE TO FACE IN FUCKING AUSTRALIA! IN FEBRUARY, THAT'S SO SOON! AND SOPH WILL BE HERE! (although if it's the second half of February I will buy her plane tickets so she can come back and see them with me because it means that much to me) HOLY SHIT HOLY FUCK HOLY SHIT FACE TO FAAAAAAAAACE!!!

Little background information: These are the guys I flew to California to see their reunion shows and they broke my finger. It was pretty much assumed they'd never come to Australia by everyone including the band, because they have such a small fanbase here and it's so costly. But it's funny, there's a few bands- usually with that bassist I mentioned in it- that when I fly somewhere to see them, they end up arranging an Australian tour. He's a great guy like that (and yeah, I did bribe him with cupcakes, literally).

There's this teenage book series that I'm obsessed with, and when driving up the narrow driveway from work the other day, I drove past a sign for the movie of the first book. I got so excited that I started jumping up and down and waving my arms about-not a good idea when driving. I almost crashed into the sign and nearly burnt myself as well. But OMG am so excited about this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to assume that there's a story behind that that will it make sense. Or your boyfriend's developed an odd, and rather short-lived, fetish.

I realise I'm much more of a spaz than anyone else here and double-posting in my own thread, but OH MY GOD OH MY GOD NOFX ARE RECORDING!

Shall we start the 'next punk thing that has Naja freaking out' thread?

NOFX are my favourite favourite band (no really, I fucking love them), and recently they've seemed to hit a creative brick wall. They've released a TV show and a live record, but were very reluctant to discuss the prospect of new material since their 2005 album. With their last tour it looked like they might be winding down, since they have been struggling to hit the high creative bar they set for themselves in 1999.

BUT NOW THEY'RE RECORDING! OH MY GOD! NEW NOFX ALBUM! EVEN MORE NOFX TOUR! OH MY GOD!

Who is a good punk band for beginners Naja?

I never (as in ever) listened to music until after I broke up with my ex so I'm actually quite hopeless with any forms of music.  What can I say - your enthusiasm is contagious.

Oooh ooh yay listen to punk!

Well, it depends on your entry level, so to speak. But here's a handful of samplers.
21st Century Digital Boy by Bad Religion- I can't think of a better starting point
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, a punk cover band, doing I Believe I Can Fly. Serious fabulousness.
Stuck In America by Sugarcult, a more pop-rock punk band
Franco Un-American by NOFX, one of their mellower songs (and as always bitingly clever and cheeky)
The New Way by Face To Face, the last single they released
And some old school stuff (note all these are American bands because British punk consists of too much wankery for beginners):
Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones- the most iconic chorus in punk
Holiday in Cambodia by Dead Kennedys, the first band I fell in love with
And last but not least, Stickin' In My Eye, which is the first NOFX song I ever heard. Not so accessible to the new listener, but it remains one of my favourite songs.

Next lesson: ska, becuase ska is freaking great. (;
